Freudian Slip
Betrays Terror Scams 5th January, 2004 by Fintan Dunne, Editor, GuluFuture.com Well, it had to happen. Eventually, the truth comes out. Yesterday in Basra, Iraq, the truth came fumbling out through the lips of Britain's Prime Minister, Tony Blair, as he nervously declared [our emphasis] : That devastating Freudian slip betrays a Tony Blair well aware of public views which reckon the weapons issue was a mass distraction from start to finish. A distraction designed to hide the predatory nature of his preemptive invasion of Iraq. Blair must be cursing his speech writers They set him up to make the verbal slip by penning this twisted phrase in which Blair --just moments earlier-- criticized states who: "..are developing weapons that can causePrimed thus, Blair almost inevitably made the "weapons of mass distraction" slip-up a few sentences later. The gaffe was broadcast intact on the BBC's national "News at One" in Britain, but digitally edited in subsequent domestic and international broadcasts. The foot-in-mouth aspects had been noticed, though. The BBC's own political editor, Andrew Marr later wrote: "The weapons of mass destruction - or weapons of mass distraction as the prime minister called them at one point on Sunday - have not turned up, and there are many serious questions about the longer term future of Iraq. "Paul Waugh, writing in the Independent also noticed that Blair: "made one slip when he referred to weapons of "mass distraction". TRANSATLANTIC FUMBLING Blair's error comes on the heels of another media faux pas --this time by Blair's comrade-in arms, U. S. President George W. Bush, who has sounded an "orange" terror alert, fives times since September, 2001. Bush
fumbled, stumbled and floundered late last year, when
asked about his possible personal foreknowledge of the 9/11 attacks.
He eventually blurted: "It's an absurd insinuation." Democratic candidate Howard Dean had been murmuring that Bush knew in advance of the attacks, and the Republican's RNC had already denounced the allegation as tantamount to political hate speech. A reporter brought it up at Bush's press briefing on 15th September, 2003. Bush's reply --a full, 10 second horror-- was: "Ya, Uh,....." Shakes head,Actually, it's only as absurd as figuring that weapons of mass distraction are real. Or that British weapons inspector, David Kelly bled to death --without obvious bleeding. TERROR MEETS POLITICS The Bush and Blair administrations are leaking credibility at the seams. British pilots who oppose the U. S. air marshals plan, have clearly figured out that terror alerts are used as political tools --irrespective of their veracity. The British Air Line Pilots Association (Balpa) thinks that multiple delays to British Airways Flight 223 from Heathrow to Washington resulted from: “a political decision to get BA to accept air marshals. Until it does, the US may make life so difficult that passengers start switching to other airlines.”So, much for the integrity of terror warnings. So much for the weapons of mass destruction. So much for the "surprise" attack on 9/11. The whiff of politics from the war on terror has become a stench. Even as the media dutifully sound the alarm bells, and repeat the tired old war motivations and mantras, we must thanks our glorious leaders for the inside dope. The truth at last, straight from the horses mouths.
