talking about ... "If you are posting on a old WordPress blog, you may need to wrap the embedding code between <code></code> tags, like below:" and substituting the 9-digit number for the video (in this case https://vimeo.com/159352255 - i.e. 159352255) in the "https://player.vimeo.com/video/xxxxxxxxxx" part and then stripping out everything else (<object><param><param><param></object><p> etc.) outwith the embed parts with the slashes and arrows.
As of now 12th August, it looks like YouTube have stopped delivering
videos using the < embed feature used in most PhpBB forums.
That's why the videos no longer display in the forum.
We gotta alter the forum code to allow what's called an <iframe
that's b'cos YTube want to force the world to embed via <iframe
(<iframe is/was rarely used on forums -it made hacks easier.
See all the ways YouTube have dropped embed support here)
Don't panic yet. We can also reverse engineer new code to handle
the way your forum posts have already embedded YouTube videos.
HOW TO FIND THE ID OF THE VIDEO ON THE FORUM
1. VIEW PAGE SOURCE CODE FOR ANY FORUM PAGE
(Right Click on the page and View Source)
2. Search the code for /v/
( Type Ctrl-F and enter /v/ )
Use Ctrl-G to look for source
code like this seen below:
It's the highlighted portion of the code above that is the video ID.
Copy that code, Display any YouTube video and replace it's ID with yours.
Update ASAP on this.- Fintan _________________ Minds are like parachutes.

Ok, having slept on it, I got a game plan
and a timeline to fix the YouTube embeds.
Tweak the ViewTopic.Php code which constructs forum pages
so that it will successfully display <iframe> youtube code.
Tweak the Posting.Php code to create all post videos as < iframe
instead of the current practice of < embed
That would let us move on with all new videos posted in < iframes
and those new videos viewable within the forum.
Scan the posts database and locate all < embed code blocks.
Locate Video IDs by searching the post text for /v/
and replace the ALL old < embed code with new
< iframe code which uses the same 11dight youtube
video ID which follows every /v/
That's a complex "string substitution" programming job, and
would need to be tested and debugged on a test subset of posts.
That way all old videos posted since the forum began would have
the new <iframe code and would be be viewable in the forum.
There IS no Step 3.
Kiss my ass YouTube.
And we're DONE!
Although there are more tweaks we need
done to get things working best. more soon... _________________ Minds are like parachutes.
