I haven't been dead - it just looked a lot like it.

Y'see, one flew east - and one flew west
and one FLU got a death-grip on my chest. Laughing

Haven't had a flu for seven years or more.

So I lost the last week or more - and 20 pounds!
What a doozy that was! Wow - flattening, debilitating.

I ain't exactly better - but well enough to crawl to a computer.
Kathy Mc was laid low by it too - but thankfully it wasn't me
who contracted it first - or I really would be dead now!

The bizarre bit is that I now have supersensitive Spidey-smell sense!

I can hyper-smell furniture, wood, food, soap etc, etc...
As I walk from room to room - each one smells noticeably different

I swear, I'll find myself clinging to ceilings with ease soon??!!

Anyone else experienced these effects? Wink

Any tips on rebuilding a non-existent digestive system.
I seem to have lost mine along the way....

Well god love your cotton socks Fintan Dunne. Sounds like a good time to

analyze ones thoughts(sanity) But 20 Pounds Crikey that is a lot.

Your original weight would set that more in context. But one way or the other

Freddy Nietzsche reckons you'l be just Dandy. I remember working on an

Island in the Philippines and we all were given a weak dose of Malaria. What

ever way I reacted I lost 22 Pounds in 4 days and in my delirium I really

thought I was going to die. I can honestly say if I had known what it was

going to be like I simply wouldn't have went there at all.

BTW I was 18 Stone at the time. Sad maybe its now a good time to fast a bit

more and detox even more.

Since I rely upon the proven anti-viral properties of extract of elderberry (sambuccus nigra) My latest (and first in the last 10 years since I started using this at the first sign of flu/cold symptoms) experience was only minor discomfort but a rather annoying cough that lasted several days.
Perhaps the sinus "clean-out" returned your sense of smell to a previous and more sensitive performance? This can happen with nasal saline rinses .

Merde! - malaria is really serious business - and the severity of your
reaction just shows how each person and situation is really unique.
Not a pleasant experience for sure.

I've had influenza before - but this was in a different class. It's terrible
to feel your life vitality slipping thru your fingers. Dropped from 11 stone
to 9 and a half over 7 days. I began to slide into shock after losing a lot
of fluids and had to move quick to try re-hydrate as I was losing
peripheral blood supply and the shakes were setting in.

Some serious flu varieties going around these days. It was more like a
swine flu - but I'm very wary of hospital approaches to these bugs.

Feels more like a month has elapsed.
Great to be back on the planet. Wink

Peter: anti-viral properties of extract of elderberry (sambuccus nigra)

Thanks for the tip there! Will check it out.

Just some more treatment notes to wrap this up.

Gut function restored by Loperamide hydrochloride.
Brand names: Imodium, Kao-Paverin, Arret

For lung function enhancement and to clear phlegm you just can't beat
Italian Pure Hard Liquorice Juice sticks

Very effective and much better than Pharma cough syrup products like
carbocisteine N-acetylcysteinem, dextromethorphan/ guaifenesin. Most
of these can have quite serious side-effects for some who take them.

Number of swine flu deaths in
winter season rises to 26

Six people died in first week of March as
a result of illness linked to the H1N1 strain

Fri, Mar 11, 2016, 20:09 Updated: Fri, Mar 11, 2016, 20:12

Six more people died from swine flu in the first week of March, bringing the 2015/2016 seasonal total to 26.

Overall, 38 people have died from various strains of influenza. The six deaths recorded between February 29th and March 6th were all associated with the H1N1 strain, also known as swine flu.

There has been a downward trend in weekly flu detection rates, which stood at 42.9 per 100,000 population on March 6th compared to 60.8 the previous week. These figures are substantially above the national baseline figure of 18 per 100,000 which indicates the flu season is ongoing.

Latest figures from the Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC) show there have been 1,258 confirmed cases of hospitalisation caused by influenza during the 2015/2016 season, with swine flu accounting for the highest number of these.

There have been 110 admissions to critical care units for influenza cases over the same period.

The median age of deaths is 64 years.

Just to let you all know that Fintan is at the hospital having tests done. His heart rate went to 120/130 and his temperature became elevated again. He was very unwell Wednesday and Thursday am so we went to doc on call who referred Fintan to hospital as he was very unwell. Thankfully he was beginning to feel a slight improvement while we were at the hospital waiting to be seen. They have sent bloods for analysis and done x-rays. We are waiting to hear if they are admitting him or sending him home.

I will keep you all posted but hopefully he will be well enough to be discharged and he can fill you all in himself.
